Today, the International Freik Conference on Physics and Technology of Thin Films and Nanosystems has officially opened. The Head of the Organising Committee, Professor of the Department of Materials Science and New Technologies Volodymyra Boichuk, warmly welcomed guests and participants, both in the auditorium and online. She acknowledged the challenging times Ukraine is currently facing and began the conference with a minute of silence as a tribute to all the heroes who have sacrificed their lives since the beginning of the russian invasion of Ukraine. Volodymyra Boichuk thanked Rector Ihor Tsependa and the Rector’s Office for their support, and encouraged all participants to engage in scientific discussions and enjoy their time in the coming days of the Conference.
The Rector of the University Ihor Tsependa, the Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, Head of the Department of Physics and Chemistry of Solids Lyubomyr Nykyruy, and the Co-Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, Head of the Department of Materials Science and New Technologies Volodymyr Kotsyubynsky welcomed the participants and wished them fruitful work in the following days.
The first day of the conference featured inspiring and interesting presentations by invited speakers: Prof. Zinovi Dashevsky (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva, Israel), Prof. Sandra Gardonio (University of Nova Gorica, Nova Gorica, Slovenija), Dr. Matthew Escarra (Tulane University, New Orleans, LA, US), and Prof. Yuriy Gurevich (Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo, Mexico, Mexico).
